ICES Professor Michael Sacks' Center for Cardiovascular Simulation Research Scientist Joao Soares and CSEM Student David Li won the best poster at the 2017 Functional Imaging and Modeling of the Heart conference.
ICES Research Scientist Joao Soares and CSEM Student David Li won the best poster at the Functional Imaging and Modeling of the Heart (FIMH) conference in Toronto.
From a field of more than 20 posters, their poster Modeling of Myocardium Compressibility and its Impact in Computational Simulations of the Healthy and Infarcted Heart received top honors.
Soares and Li work in the ICES Center for Cardiovascular Simulation, led by ICES Professor Michael Sacks.
The conference, an international biennial scientific event, aims to integrate the state of the art research and novel development efforts in the fields of cardiovascular imaging, image analysis and heart modelling. The main goal is to encourage collaboration among students, junior and senior scientists working in signal and image processing, imaging, applied mathematics, biophysics, biomedical engineering, and experts in cardiology, radiology, biology and physiology.
