Center for Computational Materials

Director: Jim Chelikowsky

The Center for Computational Materials (CCM) is located within the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences. The mission of CCM is to promote research on the electronic and structural properties of materials using computational approaches and to aid in coordinating related educational activities. The activities of the Center are focused within the Institute for the Theory of Advanced Materials in Information Technology (ITAMIT).

Research related projects of CCM include the development of high performance algorithms to predict the optical, dielectric and structural properties of surfaces and interfaces, point and extended defects in electronic materials, atomic clusters and nanoscale systems, liquids, and complex solids.
