Concise Abstract

Abstract Guidelines:

  1. About 2 pages total (no more than 3).
  2. About 0.5 to 1 page giving general background on the research area and identification of the problems to be addressed.
  3. About 1 to 1.5 page discussing Areas A, B, and C. It should be made clear what techniques will be used or developed and what outstanding issues will be addressed in each of these three areas. This part of the abstract must be written precisely, and vague or ambiguous statements should be avoided as much as the current state of research makes possible.
  4. If it helps the reader understand the work better, perhaps 0.5 page should consist of a short list of important references and possibly a list of courses taken in each area that are related to the research.

The over–riding concern regarding the abstract is that it must represent a program of research involving an interdisciplinary theme that draws on knowledge from the three CAM concentration areas. An abstract that describes merely disciplinary work is not acceptable.
