The CSEM Fellowship

Although an additional application is not required in order to be considered for a CSEM Fellowship, it is suggested that you include a fourth letter of recommendation for the committee’s review for CSEM fellows. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for the CSEM fellowship.

A $5 million endowment supports the CSEM Graduate Fellowship Fund for U.S. citizens. Each CSEM Fellowship carries an annual support of $30,000 per year, for a maximum four year period. Up to 13 qualified graduate students are supported annually on these fellowships. Fellowships are awarded solely on the basis of merit. For the first year, a CSEM Fellow is awarded a $30,000 stipend which allows the student to focus on the academic program. For each of the following three years, the $30,000 will be a combination of a CSEM Fellowship stipend and other institutional funds, such as a teaching or research assistantship. In addition, CSEM Fellows receive support for tuition and fees as well as an allocation for health benefits for each year of the fellowship. The continuation and renewal of CSEM Fellowship support throughout this four year period is contingent upon maintaining good academic standing.
