Computational Molecular Sciences Series:Investigating Light Induced Processes in DNA using Ground State Dynamics
Monday, May 2, 11AM – 12PM
ACE 6.304
Martin McCullagh, Dept. of Chemistry, Northwestern University
Theoretical and computational studies of the molecular processes governing the occurrence of light induced photodamage to DNA, and the yield of thymine dimers, in particular, will be discussed. The focus will be on the interpretation of dimer yield in terms of the ground state structural populations of polynucleotides, preceding light absorption.
