Friday, April 8, 2011

POB 6.304
Jay Boisseau, TACC, UT Austin
The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin has grown into one of the leading supercomputing centers in the world in it's first 10 years. Technology capability growth is persistent, however, and new technologies can change the supercomputing leadership landscape tremendously on short timescales. This presentation will provide an overview of TACC, including it's most recent technology additions, projects, and directions. It will also discuss some promising technology directions, as well as challenges that must be addressed to continue the same exponential growth in technology capabilities that occurred during TACC's first decade as a supercomputing center.
