Multi-scale modeling of soft tissues - where we are and where we want to go

Dr. Sacks portrait

Friday, December 2, 10:30PM – 11:30PM
POB 6.304

MIchael Sacks

Traditional multi-scale approaches in mechanics rely on definitive physical laws to provide the upscale transformation. However, in biological systems, such as soft tissues, these laws are generally unknown and also are often of an informatics-driven nature. Thus, applying a true multi-scale approach is beyond the present scope. This talk will highlight some general approaches and show where the field is going and some interesting problems that bright young ICES Phd students are most able to handle.

The talk will be at 10:30 am in the ICES 6th floor seminar room (POB 6.304). Coffee and cookies will be provided. We hope to see you there.
